was: Help my hopeless sister-in-law?
I hope someone can give me a clue on this.
She has some sort of cheap SE phone, doesn't know model, hasn't got manual.
There is a symbol permanently on the top of the screen; the normal message symbol but with two small squares/dots above it.
She can't find any new message that might explain this.
Does anyone have any ideas?
Many thanks,
Jerry

@alfa:
i am sure a lot of people here will be very happy to help you with your sister's situation by providing some relevant information about that "cheap"
phone you are referring to... try to open the back of the unit, perhaps the battery cover (?), the phone model and other info may be there as the case maybe in most phones.
let's all start from here in arriving at the possible solution.
at the back of my mind, i am thinking that the subject icon you are telling us about may have something to do with messages: regular SMS, email or even voicemail perhaps.

Thanks for the quick help.
The closest icon is 'You have received a voice message', although she says the two dots on her phone are above the 'envelope' not on it.
I'll be seeing her tomorrow night and will see if that's what it is, also try to get model of phone.

Thanks for your help guys, by the time I saw her she'd found the instruction book she'd never bothered to read and accessed the voicemail.
Help much appreciated.
