> Best Fire Wall?
Bookmark topic
I have tried ZoneAlarm twice now but can't get it to work properly with my computer. Have tried two versions but no luck. When I run ZoneAlarm I have a hard time surfing the web. It will not open a connection with MS Explorer. I have cable connection with RoadRunner.
Anyone know what's wrong?
Can anyone recommend a Fire Wall that will work?
Mahalo!

Well, I have this problem WITHOUT using any firewall at present. I've been using Agnitum Outpost Firewall Pro and it worked like charm until my HDD has crashed a few weeks ago :( Now on a fresh WinXP Pro installation I can't manage to set up MS IE to work via GPRS :( So I guess it's the browser, not ZoneAlarm.

I had ZoneAlarm Pro on 2000 and 3-4 days ago my pc crashed - only the fans work now... I decided to plug my harddisk to my friends computer and there was a message saying this:
Win2000 stopped running to prevent damage to other parts of your pc.
If this is the first time you see this screen restart your computer.
If you still see this screen after the restart, there is probably a virus. Try cleaning the virus with an antivirus program. etc. etc.
I am now using my friends computer to enter esato.

I use a Soekris Net4501 embedded PC as my "firewall". You can look at them at
http://www.soekris.com/ ... Very cool board, just load your favorite *nix OS on a compact flash card set your filter list rules and you're set. I'm using OpenBSD (which i stripped way down, theres virtually nothing running on this box except dhcpd) and pf to protect my internal network. Its works great, and is more flexible and secure than most of the lame software people install on their machines - and of course I'm natting my single IP so every machine in my house has access to the net.
