Lenovo, known for its ThinkPad laptops and desktop computers has obviously seen the growth in the market for smaller devices and wants to have a piece of the lucrative cake. The Lenovo IdeaPad U1 announced at CES earlier this month was an unusual product combining an Android  powered tablet with a Windows 7 docking base. The 10.1 inch tablet unit is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 1.3 GHz processor running Android 2.2 with 32 GB storage. When docket to the base, it is a general Windows 7 Home Premium laptop with a Intel CULV processor. The tablet unit is named LePad (of course) which can be bought separately in China in the first quarter of 2011. Like most tablets the LePad will support Adobe Flash Player 10.1 for those wanting to view the web as it is.The new business group called Mobile Internet and Digital Home Business Group will create mobile Internet-focused devices, including tablets and smartphones, as well as devices for new categories like cloud computing, smart TV and the digital home. The former head of its Think Product Group Peter Hortensius is promoted to president of its Product Group. It will be interesting to follow the company in the future and see which more exsiting inventions they come up with. The tablet market is going to be tough as all major laptop manufactures want to compete for the customers. The Lenovo IdeaPad U1 Android 2.2 powered device and the Windows 7 base unit:LenovoIdeapadU1Lenovo already has a couple of smartphone models for sale, but those are only for the Chinese market. Funny. They named it as the Satio, U1.

It's kinda "innovating" mixing two different OS's. The IdeaPad is certainly updating to 2.3 and 3.0 in a future, isn't it?
