> Sony Ericsson Xperia XTab – What a Sony Ericsson tablet would look like
Bookmark topic
Many of the Esato forum members are really good at creating concept models made by Sony Ericsson. The Xperia XTab looks nice, but the question is if Sony Ericsson is working on a Tablet or will they focus on smartphones only?
Esato News
Sony Ericsson could be working on a Tablet and so could Sony, one of the mother companies. But it is unlikely that will see one any time soon. The tablet, or XTab as
juris15 the creator has chosen to call it is a gorgeous looking device. The Xtab haas 7 inch Reality display with Sony Mobile BRAVIA engine, 8.1 megapixel camera with Exmor R sensor, Sony lens and a LED flash. The front camera has a 1.3 megapixel resolution and the storage capacity is 62 GB (shouldn't that be 64 GB?). All these concepts are made by fans of Sony Ericsson phones. The specifications are usually higher than the currently available phones. The screens are getting larger and larger every year as well as faster CPU and more memory. Interestingly, the camera resolution seems to be stuck at 8.1 megapixels. Is this because this is all they want or need from a camera phone? The Xperia XTab
Well, it's a concept like the Xperia x-Wave with a 4.4 inch Reality display, Exmor R sensor, HD Video recording, 8.1 megapixel camer and 1.5 GHz processor. The x-Wave is made by
Remort1Xperia w-Wave
Maybe 3D recording will be the next from Sony Ericsson. If so, they should take a look at the Xperia X3 also by juris15Xperia X3
All the concepts mentioned above are posted in the
2011 edition of the concept thread. A 2010 edition is available

Tablet with 16:9 screen is just STUPID. It's bloody useless in portrait mode, the screen looks too tall and thin like a mutant.
That's why Apple went 4:3 on iPads, now before anyone say 'fanboy', I don't own a single Apple tech (despite programming apps for iOS). Some design elements just make sense.
makers: STOP sticking widescreen on tablets! A good old 1024x768 (as opposed to 1024x600) display panel makes sense!

Actually I do have a 5.5Gen iPod, but it's running Rockbox, so it doesn't count.
And who thought scroll wheel was a good idea? REALLY??!

1024x600 is a perfect display and works in real life = BlackBerry PlayBook has this resolution as it will run HD playback & recording. Its all in the design layout of applications and the spacing of content within. 1024x600 works with a 7" screen. I still feel that the 10"/9.7" iPad is just too big for really portable use for a Tablet. Hopefully iPad 2 will have a version. The market will decide and if sales begin to goto the competition with 7" screens then Apple will succumb.
