mornin' masseur,

Good news, but I wonder when the hoped for completion day would be? Long after the Olympics?

Patrick Mercer's comment about security risk is interesting! Lots of cu l8r and similar texts to sort through to get such vital security information!

well, its been a decade since I first heard of the possibility of London Underground mobile reception and indeed there was that crummy Rabbit system a long while back that tried to provide a basic service, but that stopped after only a short time.

I've been to many cities in the world that provide such service so I've never understood why London is one of the largest cities to have NOT got this in the modern age?

maybe now the "excuse" of the olympics makes it possible!

Yes, come on Olympics! Help to get London upgraded!

I wonder how much disruption would be caused, and if the view is that the costs outweigh the benefits!

no disruption since this isn't available at present.

things is, if its being done for free, then there are no costs and so the advantage is huge!

lets hope tfl go for it!

I meant, when work starts, disruption to the underground service.

I was in London 2 weeks ago, and the line I needed was closed! Wonder if one line at a time would be chosen, or work from inner zones outwards!

I hope it gets accepted and starts very soon!

Iv always wondered why a company like Apple for example have not done this. Free web access for iPd users would definitely increase demand and they could charger other wifi users as an additional revenue stream.
