I just bought a brand new C905 from ebay..
Two questions:
- How to surely know it's really brand new and not a refurbished one.. Not hardware-wise, I could recognize it that way, but in case the seller did excellent job in polishing it, or if it was shorty used or any other similar scenario, how to firmly know? Is there an IMEA check in any sort to know if it were previously owned?

- Is it true that SE or any other manufacturer for that matter drop any warranties for products not produced anymore.. I mean for newly bought ones not the already bought and under the usual two years warranty..
I'm asking just to check the genuineness of the seller's claim.. As he's offering a two years warranty by him instead.. A thing I won't use unless I got a defect phone.. Any other malfunction I could manage out myself..

That's it.. I decided to get this brand new and shiny C905 to keep it there in my collection.. Will be used occasionally for shooting of course..
SE's cameraphone series simply were one of the highlights of the previous era. Also the beloved SE Java platform..
And no doubt the C905 is at the top of the range with best camera and best features.. Best to keep. Though it was a tough over the C901..
Ironically as well, my current N8 could very well meet the same fate as it would be the last Symbian of its kind!

No Esatoan got an idea?!

Anyway, nevermind. The phone turned out to be complete fiasco!

Not just that it isn't brand new, but I suspect its housing was replaced by a non-original one.. To give it the "new" feel of course..

The side key, the Shutter button, Camera/Video button, and Play button, all had very tiny but visible marks. The whole side panel that hold these key as well as the top the of phone are not in place!! The phone was barely five minutes in my hands and those two parts came off!

Also under the battery cover are some marks on the plastic piece under the battery..
The slider mechanism isn't smooth at all.. But the whole housing not being built correctly this is obvious..

Other than that, software-wise, everything was ok, but did notice 6 seconds of calls time registered! Seems the person resetting the phone didn't his job completely!

What struck me though, on the sticker under the battery cover, 10W48 sits there!!!
Now, how the heck could that be?!

This means SE was still producing C905s till December last year.. Which is unbelievable of course! Any idea?

And did SE change the package with the new batches? From rectangular black ones to cubic pink/white ones?!
Also, the headset inside have the "Walkman" logo on them! Aren't these exclusive for the W-series?!

I'm returning it anyway.. I might get a used one again and put some original new housing on it myself..

Bad luck

10W48?! That's surprising!

According to its CDA number, it's a phone for HK. Regarding the logo, it could be a theme.

What do you mean by a theme tranced?
Isn't the logo exclusive to the W-series phones?

As to the CDA, it wouldn't have been a problem. All I wanted a brand new phone. Software/firmware could be very well played with the way I liked..

The headset can be bought from whatever mobiles shop or from a second person. I had my hpm-70 with my K750.

I meant in the original package sent by SE, there can't be a headset with the logo on them in a C-series phone package?! Am I not right?

In the description on the ebay page, it was said original package!
That's what I meant..

Of course the headset themselves could be very original and bought privately and put in the package..
But this point, along with many other, piont that the package isn't original.. Just pieces put in togther in a C905 package coming from different sources..
