> PC external hard drive problem
Bookmark topic
Can anyone give me some advice or something. I have an Acer Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit pc. I have plugged into it a 320gb external hard drive. Now I have had it about a year & it is only filled with about 40 gig of stuff & is in good condition. But for some reason every so often(but today about 10 times) it keeps disconnecting itself from pc then reconnection again. It's annoying cos when playing music it stops
Anyway, when it reconnects itself it just comes up with the on screen pop up box when you plug something into the pc. What could be wrong?? Help

Not sure I am going to have plug it in to another USB socket or give the dust a blow out tomorrow. Driving me nuts

OK thanks guys well so far I have cleaned leads & also blew out any dust inside sockets. Also changed the usb lead to another socket. So far so good
EDIT: Since I swapped USB port it's been fine. Now,why did I not think of that before

OK,well it started doing it again. I completely unplugged it all & spotted this. It's the wire to the MAINS plug
Could have been very dangerous indeed. It's a Fujitsu/Siemens hard drive

Yes. I got it from pc shop near my house. So will pop down there on tuesday to see if he has a spare plug. So that is why it kept going on and off.
