Hi guys

I've been working on an application for Android smartphones that'll enable you to use the standard messaging application on your Xperia smartphone and get popup notifications on incoming text messages.

I'd really like everyone to try it out and give me some feedback on it.

Please note that I just fixed a bug that would crash the app when receiving a message from an unknown number.

Known bugs / issues / missing features:
- No smiley support
- Shows only one message at a time (if you get multiple at the same time)
- Long contact names will mess up the layout
- Placeholder screen might appear on first use - just dismiss it, and it'll never appear again
- English only at the moment (automatic language support will come)

Here's the Android Market link:
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.miz.xperiasmsbeta

PS. Please disable notifications in the default messaging application before using this, as it comes with its own notifications.

THANKS! :)

Thanks mate.

I've only tried it on the Arc and Play, but in theory it should work on all Xperia models with Android 2.1+

Nice, but if your answer is not saved in the conversation the app is't ready for me yet, but i can test it and use it for reading and answer thru the message app to help you out?

This basically works as an one way messaging app. It's not threaded as the native messaging app.

Yeah thanks, that would be great if you don't mind. I don't think there are any issues with just receiving messages, but I guess I can never be too sure about that

It only vibrates? Nothing comes up?

Regarding the issue of not saving the messages: It's because that API is internal, so it's not documented. I'm experimenting with it, hoping to find something soon, but right now it's not possible. Besides, all the manufacturers use their own place to store messages, so it's kind of hard to find the correct one for SE, but I'm hopeful!

Thanks for testing!
