Bought this from Asda Friday and my first delve into Android. Questions. Can the firmware, currently 2.2.1
be upgraded to 3? What is rooting as i am familiar with iphones and jailbreaking but not this? Is it easy to do? I tried to install Skype but it fails every time. Any ideas please?
Thanks
Doug

Got some good results here....

The only thing you may have to be aware of is that your tab is wifi only and some roms may be different

Thanks! My goodness, I thought some of the Iphone jailbreak instructions were a bit complex but this is way beyond that!!! I might just have to return this and look for something else. I returned an Ipad 2 for this delve.....
The Skype thing is annoying. I want video on this and the version I had on it did not appear to do video. So I deleted it and then tried to load V2.1 which is supposed to support video on the Tab. Now it just fails on the install every time.
One other question. I have loads of contacts in Outlook - is there a way of synching them on to the Tab. I have Kies on there but can't find out how to do it.
Thanks, sorry about the stupid questions!
Doug

Solved the problems - returned it! Obviously spoilt by the Ipad and the ease of use. Bit of reading said it was not upgradable so it's history!
Thanks Streetgang for the info.

Got a Asus Eee Pad Transformer. What a difference! It upgraded itself to 3.2 from 3.1 and is a world away from the Galaxy Tab P1010. Love this one and all for £60 more.
Only thing was I reserved it online, went into Currys to get it and found it was actually Comet I should have been standing in! The guy in Currys tried to sell me a new Galaxy Tab 10.1 for another £50 but unsuccessfully as I knew more about it than he did!!

Its always best to go for the Honeycomb dual-core tablets such as the Galaxy Tab10.1, Asus See Pad, Motorola Xoom etc... not the single-core tablets as many of them run the phone OS.
Hope enjoy your Asus as much as I am enjoying my Galaxy Tab10.1
I don't use my phone as much as I used since I got my tab.
