As per title. Got my new Xperia Mini Pro today, happy with it except for the static background noise I get when playing a recorded video. It seems I'm not the only one experiencing this problem - is it fixable with a firmware update? Or is it a hardware issue?

It would most likely be software as it's only during video. I have heard about this & I am getting a new white Mini Pro tomorrow but this won't bother me so much as I never record that much video & when I do I use my proper camera anyway. Just wait for an update. But there is a few videos in the Mini/Mini Pro discussion thread links to You Tube with the noise in. Does it only happen with the recording for you?? Does it happen when playing back videos NOT recorded on the device??

I chose the white version too, looks much nicer than the black one imo
Just played the video that was included on the phone's memory card, and couldn't hear any static noises so I'm pretty sure the static is only in the videos recorded using the phone. My old HTC Desire doesn't have this problem at all.

Could be hardware, could be software. I hope they get it fixed with an update though. I think I could hold down my wish for buying a Xperia Mini Pro if this doesn't get fixed.
Btw, here are some sample videos with the annoying electric background sound.

This would not put me off buying it. I use camera more & mine has just been dispatched. Apparently the Arc,Neo have had updates so I am wondering if the Mini's have too?? Check if there is an update mate.

all XMPs i have seen so far have had this static noise.
Contact SE support (i am ironic
- like you get an answer or a solution from SE... pff
). There is no way to tell if it's FW or HW fault... not even after update (if it's still there, if not, then it was clearly FW issue).
