Hi there
I'm a new member (Registered today), and desperately need some assistance regarding my beloved Ericsson ER500.
I sent emails to all 4 UK specialists listed on Post No.1 on the ///Ericsson Forum, and they all 'bounced back'.
Doesn't the 'erimail' suffix work anymore? I must confess, I haven't look through all 400 odd pages to find possible updates on contact details. Have they changed?
Yours Hopefully
Andy

When Ericsson stopped producing mobile phones, they probably phased off their customer support which by now should already be non-existent.

Hey andy, sorry to hear about that, but mode is right...
stopped supporting their mobile phones already since the division was shut down and merged with Sony's mobile phone division.
My R310s and T28s are no longer supported as well and are far newer than the ER500. That model predates the GH688.

Hi guys
Thank you for your replies, much appreciated.
I hear what you both are saying, but surely there's a 'technical genius' amongst the forum members or failing that, a tech spec book/sheet that I can download or 'borrow' by email? I find it hard to believe that all traces of these old phones are gone completely!
Basically, all I need to know is how to get into the main casing without doing any damage; not that technical really. The rest I'm capable of sorting myself.
Any ideas?
Look forward to hearing from you.
Thanks again
Andy

Best advice I could give is try and search for websites at least 10+ years old!
There are some minor support pages for the models still in production when
first formed but don't think there are many schematics out there now for dismantling.
If you specified the model and exact problem of opening then somebody who has the same model may be able to help

Hey Andy,
This is just a shot in the dark, from my GH688 days... When you remove the battery are there 2 gold pins on the top part? With the GH 688, the casing was held together by 2 torx screws at the bottom, and 2 gold screws on top. The two gold screws required a special tool that looked like a small tuning fork to open, but I was able to open mine using 2 small screw drivers inserted into the notches and rotate (basically like using chopsticks to unscrew it)
Do you think you can post a pic of the backside of the phone without the battery?

Hi guys
Thank you all for your replies.
There have been developments!!!
Thank you Brohighcube & Jplacson for your kind offer of help; there's actually nothing wrong with my ER500! I bought a replacement battery for it but it wouldn't charge at all...no sign of power whatsoever! I was assured that it was a compatible battery, and so I assumed it was either the charger or the circuitry inside the phone; which is why I wanted to get inside and take a look. Anyhow, I've just bought a rather lovely GH337 without a charger. Plugged it in using the ER500 charger, let it sit for an hour, switched it on and HEY, we have LIFE! I then swapped the charged GH337 battery onto the ER500 and we had MORE LIFE!! Getting good this, isn't it? I now have 2 great, usable phones with a shared charger, and have also found a supplier of compatible batteries in my country for a very reasonable price. BUT...and it's a BIG BUT, I have locking problems!!!!!! and I need HELP.....PLEASE!!!
1)The ER500 was on 'Orange' but I get asked for my PIN number when I switch it on and I can't remember what it was!!
I haven't used it for over 10 years and I know I would never have written it down anywhere. What can I do?
2)The GH337 doesn't appear to be PIN LOCKED but it's telling me to put in the correct SIM card. The person I bought it off can't remember what network they were using at the time (15 years ago) and it's possible that it was a Spanish network, so I wouldn't have one anyway. How do I get round that one?
Anyhow guys, thanks again for your help. I hope to hear from you soon and I WILL get round to posting a picture or 2; especially of the GH337...it's rather unique! I'll leave you all wondering
Cheers
Andy
