Yeay! It's working!!!
ANYONE WHO IS TIRED OF WAITING FOR AT&T TO ROLL OUT MMS, WAIT NO MORE!!
Just go to
http://www.nowmms.com and register for a free MMS account! To register, all you have to do is type in "+1" then your 10-digit phone number (as in +13105551212). Their system immediately sends you an SMS with an activation code. You enter the activation code on the web site, then you define a password. Lastly, you must configure your phone to access their mms server. This is a painless process as they provide a button to click that will send another SMS to your phone. The second SMS contains the new configuration settings and automatically makes the necessary changes to your phone!!
I tried to use this service with my at&t t68i about a month ago, but couldn't get it to work. But as of today, it appears I can send and receive MMS for free!!!!!
It's a shame that AT&T couldn't provide us this service earlier.

@CrazyStud17
So did you get the sms and activate the account? Are you saying you got that error message after you tried to use their 'send test message'? Read the Operator Settings section, and try to change the settings manually.

I have activated my account before I tried it of course. Then, I clicked the "Sent Test MMS Message." It did not work. I tried to change the MMS server manually to what was on the site, and still it didn't work. I tried to make a profile, but it asked me for a gateway IP. So I just copied the one from AT&T. Anyways, where are you from? Are you from US using the AT&T service? Maybe it worked for you because you do not use AT&T.

@contaygious
Yup, it's free! From their
web site:
NowMMS.com has expanded internationally, providing
free cross-operator MMS services across national borders, as well as 2-way MMS to e-mail picture messaging capabilities.
The site claims to be advertiser supported, and it states nowmms users may occasionally receive advertising messages from their sponsors.
Well, I'm totally not worried about receiving annoying ads on my phone because: 1)US carriers have been very slow to deploy mms - they are barely able to keep up with the technology. 2)The number of GSM/GPRS users is still pretty small. And of those GSM users, very few are savvy enough to configure their phones for mms. My point - very few businesses will invest in mms campaigns when the target market is still so small. Maybe in a year things will change, but I can't imagine receiving a McDonalds ad on my phone for at least 6-12 months.
@CrazyStud17
Hehe, guess you didn't notice the thread title or my location. Anyway, yes, I use a T68i with an AT&T plan. I live in Los Angeles, California.
After submitting the activation code you received in the first sms, did you press the button on the following page that sends a second sms to your phone? Apparently, the second sms contains a script that automatically reconfigures your mms settings to work with nowmms. Now, I didn't do this step myself because I wanted to configure my phone manually.
Here is what I did:
Messages > MMS > Options > Message Server
http://mms.now.co.uk/+18185551212=mypassword(Substitute in your number and password.)
Messages > MMS > Options > WAP profile > Create new
Name:
NOWMMS MMSConnect using:
AWS WAPIP address:
213.48.20.10
Messages > MMS > Options > WAP profile > Select
NOWMMS MMS
Make these changes, then go to the site again and try the 'send test mms' again. If It doesn't work, I'm not sure what to tell you. Maybe it's a Hawaii issue. BTW, how's the weather on your beautiful island?
If anyone wants to test to see if their phone can receive an mms, PM me with your # and I'll send one over!

AT&T has launched MMS today. I sent one right from my phone (T68i). why would you want to go to a different site when you can just do it form your phone?

Hey t68fan,
Yahoo, my MMS is working!
You're right; I think I missed the 2nd SMS that contains the configuration settings. Thanks for the step-by-step instruction, it helps a lot. I think it's working now, for I was able to download the sample MMS message (although it's a bit slow).
One final test, could you send me a sample MMS? Here's my number: +18084975393
With regards to the weather, it's great 69F. I think it's perfect; not too cold and not too hot.
Again, thanks a lot.
