In my C901 the blue ring of camera lenses works only when using self-timer.
Also my camera buttons are illuminated in blue when camera cover is open.
When camera cover is closed all the keys and keypad are illuminated in white.
I do not know what is right, but if you are sure it is wrong,
you can try master reset or even some software update/re-flash.
But if the keys perform the correct commands, I would not be worried,
you will have unique unit with unique light mode...

I remember a C901 user saying that if the brightness of the screen isn't set to 100% then the blue light on the camera lense won't light up when you open the cover.
As for your other problem, I think the keypad lights are meant to be blue when you turn the phone on. I'm not really sure because I messed around so much with light effects when modding

Some ways to improve battery life:
- set mobile internet to GSM only
- disable backlight on keypad (can be annoying when typing at night)
- reduce display brightness to 10% (the blue lights wont apper anymore)
Those are the main things you can do to as far as i know
Oh, your request for flash menu made me smile
I have almost every flash menu that is avaliable on the internet that is avaliable for the c901 (over 500)
Let me know what type of menu you want and ill upload it for you the next time I'm on my computer
