Motorola today announced two new entry level Android smartphones. The
Motoluxe is a 4 inch model with a modest 800 MHz processor. According to Motorola, the Motoluxe sets itself apart from the smartphone pack with a lanyard slot that lights up to show you when you have missed a call, received a text or email. It has a 8 megapixels main camera with LED light and a smaller VGA front camera for making video calls. The Motorola Motoluxe will be available in Greater China, Europe and Latin America later this spring.Motorola Motoluxe highlightsWeight: 123.6 gramSize: 117.7 x 60.5 x 9.85 mmNetworks: GSM/EDGE 850/900/1800/1900, UMTS 900/2100 or 850/1900 or 850/2100, HSPA 7.2 Down/5.76 UpWi-Fi. b/g/nDLNA8 megapixel camera with autofocus. The
Defy Mini is probably the most exciting model of the two. It has a smaller 3.2 inch display, larger 1650 mAh battery and a less powerful 600 MHz processor. This will let the Motorola Defy Mini run much longer on each power cycle. You will get 10 hours of talk time and 21 days standby time per battery charge. The 3.2 inch display has a 320 x 480 pixels resolution with scratch resistant Corning Gorilla Glass. Defy Mini is just 2mm
smaller than the older Motorola Defy, so we are not sure where the Mini part of the name are coming from. Defy Mini has a smaller display 3.2 inch vs 3.7 inch with a lower resolution 320x480 vs 480x854 pixels. And lastly, the Defy Mini has a basic 3 megapixel camera. While Motorola claims the Defy Mini is water-resistant and dust-proof, we have not been able to find out if the device is rated using an
IP code. We are guessing that Motorola would report an IP Code if that was the case.Motorola Defy MiniWeight: 107 gramSize: 109 x 58.5 x 12.55 mmNetworks: GSM/EDGE 850/900/1800/1900, UMTS 900/2100 or 850/1900 or 850/2100, HSPA Down 7.2 / Up: 5.76Wi-Fi: b/g/nDLNA3 megapixel camera with LED light.
