Okay, I took a deep breath and tried to root my phone.
I tried UnlcokRoot 2.2.1, which actually supports my phone, coulnt get shell permissions.
I tried DoomLord's mod, still unable to write files and get permissions.
My Android is 2.3.4 (logical)...
How the heck can I root it???

The only way I know of with .62 firmware is to have an unlocked bootloader and flash a custom kernel that supports cwm so you can then flash the rootxperia zip file via cwm.
Or there is this over at xda
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1446308
[ROM][CWM][BOOTLOADER LOCK] 4.0.2.A.0.62 Generic Firmware + Root + Busybox + CWM
It's for the neo v but someone there may be able to help you.
