Anyone know about free use of "T-Mobile backup" data account?

On my SE T300 I have reconfigured my wap profile and GPRS data accounts at the suggestion of T-Mobile.

I now have an option of connecting using any of my accounts -- including this backup CSD account. (In T-Zones menu, choose 8 "options" to create a new Wap profile. There is then a choice of "connect using" that allows use of "T-Mobile backup".)

When going over minute usage with customer care, I accidentally discovered that there is no record of a call when I connect to CSD using this method. Therefore it appears to be a free CSD with no connect time charges.

My questions are:

1. Is this legal, or is it theft of service? If the latter I want no part of it.

2. Will they charge for this eventually such that I will get an unanticipated charge in the future?

Since I do not want to break the law, I have not tried to access this feature again. I use a dial-up account for CSD in off peak hours with unlimited minutes, reserving my GPRS data for prime time where I would be charged the minute rate for CSD. Note that T-Mobile consistently states that it is ok to use a dial-up service to access CSD and that they will not charge during unlimited minute times.

By the way, everyone says CSD is so much slower. I never seem to find any difference. Either CSD is really HCSD (although status menu indicates connection at 9600bps), or my GPRS runs very slow. Note that I would be using GPRS all the time if I found it to be much faster.

That brings up another question: Is there any way to test the speed of the GPRS connection?

Your responses are welcome. I hope that I haven't opened a can of worms, or led others to engage in an illegal activity.

Illegal? That's rediculous.

Clarification:

1. I am not talking about using a dial-up service, such as nowmms. That I know is cool, and it uses minutes. I am talking about the backup system hard-wired into the phone by T-Mobile.

2. This preconfigured data account will be automatically accessed whenever GPRS is down. If there is a GSM signal but no GPRS bar, the phone displays that it is dialing *** . It then connects using CSD. It turns out that T-Mobile does not charge for connect time whenever this backup system is used. In fact, THERE IS NO RECORD OF THE CALL.

3. There is a way to manually access this apparently free data account when you set up your own account (i.e. there is a prompt to choose what to connect with, this account being one of the choices.).

So anybody know whether its is legal to use this account? Or would this be theft of service? To be sure, even customer care cannot see minute useage when this account is accessed. Tier one and two data support both say there is no tracking of these calls that are meant to be used only when GPRS fails. So, is it illegal to intentionally use it even When GPRS has not failed?

Thanks anyone for help on this one.
