Hi all,
I am a T68i user, and I would like to use the built-in email client to check pop emails.
I have got this question, that I'v been trying to figure out. It's about the email function in the phone.
I know I can set up my email client as a "PC", dialing up to my ISP, then log in with my username and password to retrieve the emails. This is the so called analogue way. I have done this before.
I also have heard, but not successfully attempted, that some people here check pop email via GPRS connection, what I mean here is not through the wap browser, but with a GPRS connection. The basic difference is how is the data account set up, its either "GPRS data" or "GSM data".
The capability of the APN provided by the mobile servie provider also plays a part here as well. I have heard somewhere in this forum, some provider's APN allows you to access any address(ip address) as you like, but some others would block most of it.
Can someone help me on this plz? Many thanks in advance for enlighting me. I am in Melbourne, Australia, using a service provider called RSLCom.
Btw, any Oz fellows are welcome to contact me on computer/mobile phone chats. ICQ:1152692

POP3 email just go to www.softhome.net and den register there! After that enter the setings on your phone! Eg go to mesages menu of ur phone den select email den select options select edit account and then ad acount: conect using your gprs of ur network and and den select pop3:
Incoming server:mail.softhome.net, others leave it dfault mailbox: ur login ID, OUtgoing server:mail.softhome.net email add: log in ID@softhome.net and the rest is optional!

But check whether you have access to all IPs via your APN, or just wap. If only wap, then you cannot use any pop3 mail, but only the one provided by your service provider (as in my case) :-)

I read and send e-mails with my T68i via GPRS connection and also via GSM connection (if the GPRS does not work). Also via WAP - if the phone does not handle the character coding of e-mail I want to download.
