Yesterday I just left my phone on top of the drawer like I usually do, it was on, then after several hours I went back to check it, it was off, so I tried to turn it on again, it vibrates upon opening then screen lits but nothing, no startup screen no sound, only a black screen with backlight on. Tried charging it, the same thing happens.

So I thought it might be the firmware, opened sony update service, remove reinsert battery, hold c button connect to pc, update service detected the phone, then it asked me if I want to reinstall firmware, clicked ok, downloaded firmware then halfway through the install there was an error. Installation stopped, phone is now bricked, tried using PC companion to repair the phone but it didn't work either.

So is my phone dead for good? anyone here can recommend any other free flashing tools and perhaps a way to reflash the phone? Thanks in advance to anyone who replies.

Tried it several times, on Sony update service it now only says "no new software is available for your phone" there's no more prompt to try reinstalling the firmware again. On PC companion I tried repair phone, it only says "unable to download software for your phone" retried several times same thing happens checked my internet connection everything seems to be fine.

Thanks for the reply. I really do not want to replace Hazel yet but it seems I might need a new phone. The thing is PC companion and Sony update service seems to still detect the phone although I cannot access anything on the phone or even turn it on now.

Try Wotan Server they might have your country setting and language.
You will have to install their client and a SE USB-driver, you can download both from the Wotan Server Homepage.

There is only one bad thing with Wotan Server and that is that they ask you for money!
1 to 3 Dollar per phone that you Reinstall the software/firmware on.

Have used them myself when I bought four SE phones from China and needed my own language on those Chine/Asian localized phones. One of the phones a C510 failed at first try but could with out loosing any money try a second and successfully time.

Just noticed I can flash for free using omnius as long as it's db3xxx phone, Hazel is DB3350 so I tried flashing it, main firmware file flashed fine, but the language pack fails to write. I get this log from omnius:

I'm beginning to think that my phone's eeprom is faulty, sometimes the program detects it, sometimes it takes a lot of tries just to get it to be detected by omnius.

firmware that I'm trying to install is a generic R7CA064 RED81, and the language pack is 1231-9366 west europe red81
both just downloaded from the net, couldn't find any firmware on the net for download the same as my original one. I know I'm trying some kind of a completely random fix here

ok removed my imei, I guess I just didn't care about it anymore since can't get Hazel to boot anymore.

About the Samsung that's just an advertisement sent by omnius server when they released v 1.18 for samsung phones. Seems they even put adverts in between logs while flashing phones
