First i took it off, but after a month i put it back on because it stays locked (when you open the flip to use PDA functios & close it again it is locked) also it`s easy to get speakerphone active with one hand.
In fact although it doesn`t look so nice, i can`t see me using it without flip much.

I took mine off for about 10 minutes and decided I prefer to keep it on for some of the reasons pachy has given and also it protects half the screen directly and probably alot of the rest of the screen indirectly.

I`m still not sure the flip offers a higher level of protection, because some of the cracked screens on esato are the result of pressure, pushing one off the keypads little metal pins hard onto the screen, easily breaking it.
Often that same pressure if applied to a naked screen would not be concentrated on a tiny pin & would be spread over a larger area not breaking the screen. (this is just my theory).
A good example of this is Police records showing the favored tool of the average young thief caught stealing from cars is in fact a coin, when sharply struck against a car door window will very easily break toughened glass because of the tiny concentrated pressure.

I have never removed the keyboard for many reasons mentioned above. To be able to use it with one hand, protect the screen, lock the keyboard when the flip is closed and so on.

I switched a lot times.
But now I use it with the keyboard on it, because I can`t find my clickon thing anymore (I think I lost it)

I removed the keypad after 5 minutes. Saves me 10 gr
The only problem I have is to open and close the virtual keypad. It would be great if I could do that with som special jog-dial combination.

When I first got the phone, I removed the flip. However, I started thinking about what happened to another P800 user here in ESATO who whacked his P800 screen and put the flip/keypad back on to protect the screen. However, when I am flying/in a plane, I remove the flip. Less questions that way. Nobody questioned me so far (was in Flight Mode of coz). :-D This message was posted from a WAP device
