Hi all,

I have a major problem! I've installed PC Suite 1.1.1 on my Win2K machine but upon plugging in the USB Sync Station, Win2K refuses to automatically recognise it! It asks for the driver (which I presume the installation program should have automatically installed and configured) which I can't seem to find.

Below are my system parameters:

(1) AMD Athlon processor 1.4 Ghz

(2) 512 Mb RAM

(3) 20+ Gb free hard disk space

(4) two physical hard drives. The smaller one is drive D. The larger one is partitioned into two smaller logical drives (drive C which contains Windows 98SE, and drive F which contains the Win2k system). My CD drive is drive E (don't ask me why Win2K decided on these drive assignments). System is dual boot, Win98SE and Win2K Professional.

(5) Microsoft Outlook 2000 Service Release 1

Does the sync software require the software to be installed in C drive for it to work?

At first I thought I installed software in the wrong order because I installed PC Suite first before I installed MS Outlook. So I uninstalled it, then installed MS Outlook 2000 SR1, and reinstalled PC Suite. The same problem persisted - Win2K just refused to recognise the sync station.

Please help! I need to transfer my contacts list as I need to exchange my P800 for a new unit (some dust settled under the screen which they could not remove).

Can someone tell me where the .inf file is located so I can get Win2K to recognise the sync station? Or alternatives to transferring my contacts, etc from Outlook into the P800? Or even send the driver file to me?

Thanks for any help/pointers anyone can give!

Well, I solved my own problem.

What I did was that when Win2K requested for the driver files, I took out the original CD that shipped with the P800 in the box which contained version 1.0.0. I pointed Win2K to the CD to search for the driver, which it promptly found and installed. Lo and behold, my Sync Station now works!

My only worry is that I've already installed PC Suite 1.1.1 into the PC. And I'm using a version 1.0.0 USB driver for the Sync Station. Will this cause a conflict/problem?

Synchronisation was a breeze. That was because I started with a clean version of Outlook on my system. Now what I need to do is to transfer a copy of my office Outlook system into my home PC. Does anyone know how to do this properly?

Can anyone send me this Sync Station USB driver? Not sure if it's just the .inf file needed but if someone could locate the folder and zip it up it would be much appreciated.

CD is miles away and I need to do a backup - can't do it on Bluetooth...

TIA

Andy
