same problem
my gprs and mms works perfectly.
can browse wap sites.can send mms

for my email it tries to connect and carries on trying for a while.
then it gives a message along the lines of 'timed out' cannot copy messages.

just a thought

is pop3 or imap email access gprs server dependent. what i mean is this. my gprs provider has just started this gprs service 5 days back. is it too new and does he have to provide some special stuff to give acess to pop3 email.

or is that if the gprs works then pop3 email access should work auatomataicallyu.
love my p800 but the primary reason for buying it was to be able to get email on the move
please help

thanks

I don't think that comes into it. With the same mobile service provider ( Vodafone UK) I had no problems accessing these 2 accounts with my Handspring Treo 270.. I think somehow we have incoreectly configured the P800 ?

Try to turn of the "Use wap account" Controlpanel -> connections -> wap accounts in the preferred tab. Just uncheck it and see what happens(it worked for me and my problem was pretty much like yours).
Oh and the names on the menu items may not be exact as I have a norwegian phone and I'm just guessing the names.
But you should be able to figure it out.
Hope it helps.

Are you sure you have the right data subscription?
It may also be necessary to change your data account.
For email it usually has to be an internet account and not a wap account.(there is a difference... though I don't know what the difference is)

I also don't understand the difference, - just know there is one ( something to do with APN accounts?) but my mobile account has full access, and I was able to access my email ( along with the web) from my Treo 270...

I had to got to my service providers site and look under PDA settings.
The settings listed for cell phones didn't work.
I used the ip addresses and stuff that was listed in the Pda via cellphone section.
My s55 worked without doing this. It involved alot of head scratching from my part...
As I had the EXACT same settings on my s55 and p800
And email worked on the s55..
Seems the p800 is a little different from normal phones.... like a pda with a phone built in
