> Smart Watches worth buying?
Bookmark topic
Hi guys,
I have fancied getting a "cheap" second hand smart watch to try with my iphone. If anyone has tried them please give me some advice in terms of is it worth adopting yet, or isn't the technology good enough?
I quite fancy the look of the pebble. The first one, not the steel.
Thing is I don't want to buy one if they aren't very good and you think there will be an amazing one around the corner such as iWatch.

My suggestion is to choose for yourself. Do some research, look for the features that aspire to your usage potential possibilities ... see how they work when paired to an iPhone, Lookup the API development for Pebble and where their heading for iOS. Make your decision based on that solely.
Apple, famous for saying "We don't comment on future unreleased products" will do so. So until you see the official announcement by Apple don't make decisions completely by rumor - sure it's not the same as choosing about sleeping with a girl or not, but you get the idea (she puts out a lot - when she doesn't, she's a great pole cleaner - she's not, she just lays in bed - when you takes you to the hills and treats you like a king on mount olympus!) Catch my drift?

I've owned the first Sony watch, the LiveView, which was OK I guess but the connectivity issues let it down a bit.
I think I'd invest in a new watch because there are so many more applications but it's a very niche product, although not an essential one for many.

I wish their battery could last for more than a year. Charge your mobile, charge your smart watch.......next new product comes in a market and then charge that too.

Yes, why not... Nowadays to buy a smartwatch is worthy. Because you can connect your watch to your smartphone always. So it will be more user-friendly for you, no need to check always your phone. You will be informed on your wrist for each n every quick notification. you can buy smartwatch freely.
Thank You.

It depends on your need for a smartwatch. Its not as good as a normal watch if you only want to tell the time because you need to recharge it after a couple of days. For fitness you could say its useful but then again, my phone has a step counter and even with a camera flash you can get apps to monitor heart rate. For me though, its now become essential because I work in a laboratory so I don't touch my phone if I have gloves on. I see the notifications on my watch and it just allows me to work in peace. I'm actually very dependent on the watch so much that I hardly ever take my phone out. I had a Sony SW3 and now a Huawei first generation. I have a Tag, Armani, Diesel and other watches but I mostly use my Huawei.

First and foremost it's about conveniene and a direct even 2nd is about fitness and how focused on your health you are.
A fingerprint sensor for monitoring hear rate is not a good solution ... you can ONLY measure at the moment. There is no history over a workout or day. Right now on my Apple Watch since eating over 3K calories and minimal exercise (except at the gym) I've noticed ...
increase resting heart rate by a factor of 10!
spikes in resting heart rate (this is resting or lounging in a chair over an hour watching a late night movie) where heart rate rises from 63bpm to 120bpm (THAT's alarming if trending over a few days vs just 1 time a month which can be normal to an extent).
140-170bpm from strength training not ideal yet not bad.
I've ALWAYS been healthy and participated in sports until the last few years. I've always been thin but a tire around my waist, holding in my tire for hours out of a day and jeans not fitting when buttoned up is REALLY getting on my personal nerves so I chose to take charge.
I haven't owned a watch in 10yrs + so it made more sense to me to get a watch that works with my mobile phone (I'm on iPhone) with a trusted company that will continue to evolve the watch over time, good warranty support and healthy developer community. Now when I go into the gym, I have 3 playlists with 2GB of music total for all streaming to my headphones and I track my weights, sets, reps and exercises along with rest times (ability to add/remove sets/reps/exercises rapidly is HUGE for me vs pen/paper).
badassmam's use mirrors mine similarly between our choices of smartwatch.
A word about notifications:
SMS notifictions is sweet ... especially if context and history is very legible and mirrors that of your phone. Many will offer quick reply list, or your ability to text reply ... yet try to be comfortable with a voice reply. Look especially into headsets that may take over for the watch's built-in microphone and ensure those are clear IF you're going to be using them.
SmartWatch alernatives to health:
Indeed you SHOULD use smartphone apps such as MyFitness+ (calories, protein, water ... basically all food intact), as well as your other apps and notes. Alternatively you can use headphones such as the Jabra Pulse Elites or others that have a built-in heart rate sensor ... especially if you don't drive a car and take public transit in which you listen to music quite holistically during your travels. FitBit etc can work and there are much more accurate than Motorola 360/AppleWatch ... but do a LOT of your research and keep focused on YOUR goals for using the watch not something to show off.
At the very least look for a watch or other accessory that can track your current heart rate, your resting heart rate, average heart rate while walking, and your recovery rate after exercising.
Cheers & Happy New Years
