I absolutely love Samsung and all my phones going back to 2010 have been Samsungs but they need patents which are useful to us end users. When was the last time anyone really appreciated Smart Scroll, Smart Pause or Smart Stay? Mind you, I love Samsung but..............

To think about 5years ago, Samsung was the last manufacturer I'd want to go with, I had huge respect for their manufacturing prowess and the incredible amount of unique HW found in their phones but I was prepared to get a Htc, Sony or stay with Nokia, lol, thank goodness I had no choice but to get a Galaxy S2 when the Htc Sensation XE didn't make it to stores down here.
Anyway, what they need is patents that are relevant and have a lot of weight to them.
There's no point in having countless patents that may never go into use when you're being sued by a whole lot of patent trolls who want a piece of your success.

CandyBar Phones,
Flip Phones (mimicing Motorola's prize possession)
blazed the original trail for CandyBar Slider phones (about 4yrs before the chocolate ... their S60 phone, the only one in existence, to have been a candybar slider - I still love that device)!
S60 phones - alway smore powerful yet getting the nod-shaft by Nokia not able to use their latest S60 API's or their Beta apps.
Innovation in LCD/AMOLED screen technology was about 3yrs before Android 1.0 began life.
Major efficient manufacturer vs all competitors, even the great OEM HTC back in the day (HTC began life making smartphones for Vodafone, Orange, Virgin, and even Verizon.

I watched them from the days of the Samsung D410 with its incredible 256,144 colour display back in 2003 and VGA Camera, going on to the D500 slider that became so popular , then came the D600 around the same time as the SE W800 Walkman, the D900 with its decent 3MP Camera. I remember their Super slim Ultra series, with slim bar, slider and flip phones made to go against Moto's RAZR series.
I remember their legendary WM Smartphone, the I900 Omnia, along with the Optical Zoom enabled Symbian G810 and I will never forget the 1st Samsung smartphone I truly wished I could have, the Symbian S60 driven I8510 Innov8, it was a Nokia N95 on steroids, such a pity it never saw the same kind of success. We then had the Symbian S60v5 I8910 Omnia HD, the best S60v5 phone at the time, it had better internal HW than both the Nokia N97 and SE Satio at the time.
The above is the reason why I think people who say "Samsung are only successful because of Android" are misinformed idiots, as Samsung swiftly climbed up ranks long before Android, by the time Android arrived Samsung were already knocking on Nokia's door.
