I'm only thinking...
The display in Z1010 seems to be exactly the same as in Siemens SX1: 220x176 pixels, 65000 colors TFD-type. Also the keys in Z1010 are all new for SE: two soft-keys and other new buttons (like in SX1 and other Series 60 phones).
SE has own Symbian OS: UIQ, but it is for touch screen phones, not for button-operated (AFAIK), and SE is also very big fan for Symbian. But I don't think SE is interested to develop a new OS for button-phones. So
maybe Z1010 is based on Series 60...
I also checked Series 60 FAQ from Forum Nokia, and there is said the first implementation of Series 60 is based on Symbian 6.1, and future version may be other Symbians...

Unlikely that Nokia hasn't announced signing Sony Ericsson for System 60, if it is true. They don't miss marketing like that.

I doubt SE would license an old UI from Nokia. Series 60 runs over Symbian OS 6. Just like UIQ runs over Symbian OS 7. SE doesn't have to run UIQ. Their next non-touchscreen phone could easily run OS7 only without UIQ.

errr I thought UIQ is part of Symbian v7 and SE is just the first who use it, not the company who invented/own it???
now all symbian shareholder must work together more just like the recently annoucement of Nokia and SE to align developement of Symbian since MICROSOFT is coming into mobile phone industry.

When will this mobile phone be released in Europe? I am searching for a phone with that kind of design, so this is a very good choice.
