The thing that bothers me most with this phone and the reason why I won't buy it is the clamshell design. Why SE wants to head up the Samsung highway I don't know. Maybe it's pure lack of creativity in the design process.
I waited for 2 years for the P800 and the wait was worth it despite the obligatory glitches of anything new.
With the z1010 I will lose handwriting recognition and the touch sensitive screen (which is where PCs are heading) things I've had since my Palm V came to be, I'll have less screen real estate, but I'll be gaining a flip I don't want.
Better have improved the P800, made it a better phone.
Yes, the z1010 reminds me of the red Valentine's day Samsung, this time in color with a camera added in for good effect.
I know it's just a prototype but it is the shape of things to come. It's the Sony influence in Sony Ericsson. Ericsson make phones, Sony electronics, the marriage can work out still but I just don't know how.
Any thoughts/ideas?

U just can't compare the Z1010 to the P800 since they are not of the same class... but u can compare it with the T68. U've only knew about A PROTOTYPE, let's wait and see, surprises will arrive later on.

The Z1010 is not a prototype. It is going to be the first 3G phone from se. And there is a reason it's a flip phone, it's because flip phones are the best for video calls. Unless you like the look of the motorola A830!!!
The Z1010 is not the same type of product as the P800, you guys are missing the point.

Ever since the merger... I have not been happy with SEs designs at all. The T68i was an ERICSSON design, not SE. The P800 is a 'little' better, but only because I removed the ugly keypad.
Everything else in their portfolio is just so boring! I've noticed a trend in all the top celfone manufacturers... they seem to have fired ALL their good designers and hired some retarded, industrial-design drop-outs!

Cuz that's what you call people who design products.

@Jplacson, you would love it if SE decided to go "Flash Gordon" again like the t68m.
I think that sums up the look, but i`m happy for them to go "Gothic Victorian" , "H.G.Wells vision of the future" or "Buckmaster Fullers 50`s revival" rather than "Communist electric shaver" (P800).

"Communist electric shaver"... HAHAHAAHA you're right!... actually, I prefer the older, lseeker design of the T28/R320. I even found the T39 a bit too over done.
I don't want my high-tech cellular phone to look like a high-tech cellular phone. This is one area where I think Nokia figured it out which is why the 8xxx series hasn't really changed much...they saw that people liked the design, and they just would modify a few lines here and there.
SE should've done the same with the T28, R320, and even the T68 series. They were on the right track with the T39 and R520... then, since Ericsson became SE... we now have soap bar designs. And the ONLY 'radical' curves you see on any of their phones are now on the battery cover of the P800, that's all!
