I followed all the advice I found on these forums, but only one worked for me:
Start the sync, then kill all processes for the synch-applications (EPMworker and xtndconnect), and then re-start the sync
The other advice was:
1. upgrade to firmware R2B - made no difference
2. reduce the IR transfer speed to 19k
3. Update the MDAC drivers to version 2.7 - made no difference, but you can get them here:

Hello! I've tryed 2 different cabels. One that did'nt work. And the other one i got that works. Culd it be that there is a difference in the cabels? That there is one for the other
"low-end" T-models and one for T68 and the high-end phones?

I have problems myself running Win98SE + Outlook XP, get regular illegal operations of epmworker and when my winfax pro 10.02 is set to 'Automatic Recieve', unless I end task pdq on epmworker I end up having the pc reboot on me without warning..
Does anyone have a link to a site that shows the registry entries that the r4a package puts in? I'd ideally like to be able to kill off epmworker from loading at the start..

@GavMackem
Just search for the right startup entry in your registry.
