Hello,
I am not an existing P800 user,
but I would like to ask is it possible to use a normal stereo earphone (mini jack) with a P800 to listen MP3 songs?

Also, while playing MP3s, will the screen switch off and keypad lock automatically for saving power?
How many MP3 playback time is available with a fully charged battery?

Thanks a lot

The headset has a jack that is the next size down from standard. I think that makes it 2.5mm instead of 3.5mm from memory. I believe you can buy adaptors but that will probably stick out quite a way.

I haven't played MP3s yet (I use my IPAQ) so can't comment on your other Q

It is a 2.5mm jack, but it is longer to allow for the hands free controls.

Maplin in the UK sells the converters for around 75pence. You may want to consider though cutting the end off of your normal headphones an soldering to a normal 2.5mm jack thus not having the extra adaptor sticking out. I would make sure the 2.5mm jack fits first (it used to work fine on the T68 MP3 player.

The Orange shop sells reasonably nice 2.5mm to 3.5mm adaptors.

With conventional earplugs with 2.5 to 3.5 adaptor you loose the hands free button conection for calls.

I have tried my Sony earpods with the adaptor (previously used with T68 mp3 player) and no problems, but I'm OK with the supplied ones anyway.

I have a convertor cable that is like this:
2.5mm jack to plug into the P800 then a bit of cable then a 3.5mm port into which I can plug a standard 3.5mm headphone jack. The thought just occured to me so I'll dig it up and try it with my P800. It would be great if I can use my favorite Sony headphones with volume control to listen to music on the P800. I don't see any reason for it to not work.
