> Still unclear about WAP vs. regular GPRS profiles

I have received (Through Orange, my local carrier) two profiles for GPRS:
1. Internet GPRS, which allows me to access email + regular websites, etc. I pay by the kb (right now I've registered for the 100Mb plan).
2. WAP GPRS, which is supposed to only let me gain access to WAP sites. I have unlimited access to that.
If I use the WAP GPRS account, Opera doesn't work at all. I think everyone agrees now that Opera can only gain access to WAP sites when connected to the Internet, not through a WAP account.
What suprised me is that the internal browser loads many if not all of the websites I've tried (regular http sites) through the WAP account, which is supposedly limited to WAP only. Of course, the limitations of the regular internal browser (it loads the non-frame version of the sites) make it a bad internet client.
However, I'm baffled by this. Did the local carrier screw up their set up?
Oh, one more thing, is it possible that one of the GPRS profiles is prohibiting incoming calls? I tried to call my phone when I was on an GPRS session and it kept ringing on the other side but the phone was acting as though no incoming call was being sent...
I just tried it again with the WAP GPRS profile and it rang properly...

Its simple- the wap account will only allow t to access oranges wap portal- which will then allow you to access any internet address on port 80. This means you can access wap and html through it as they both use port 80. The internet profile allows you to connect directly to any address on any port, for pop or smtp email.

@Aled
I have the Orange Access pack which allows about 10MB/month and wondered if you could answer a question for me.
When connected to Orange GPRS Wap profile & going to wap.esato.com I get two options. The WAP or HTML version. If I choose the HTML version I am still on the GPRS WAP profile looking at a web page.
Am I still on WAP (part of the Access Pack) or am I on Internet getting charged? Is there effectively HTML pages over WAP.

Thanks Aled.
Any ideas if Opera will eventually support WAP profiles? With that capability, I would be able to use it for everything and not have to bother with the other silly browser...
In Opera, I had opened a site that had a few frames (top and left sides).
However, it opened in such a way that the main frame (on the bottom left) was essentially 2 pixels by 2 pixels. Since the other frames were not resizable + there was no way to scroll over to that part of the screen...
Any ideas?

You can use either WAP or HTML versions over WAP GPRS connection your charges will come out of your access pack. Try yourself by checking your data counters.
The new WAP browser (version 2.0?) supports HTLM

You can accessanything which is stored on a web server with your wap profile as all web servers use port 80, only difference is it comes through the wap gateway instead of directly to your phone.
To get opera to work you would need to edit the source to use the gateway instead of accessing the site directly and i don't think opera is free source. You could email them and suggest it for a futureversion but otherwise you are stuck it seems
