I placed an order yesterday, February 25th for the Memory Stick Duo. There were 50 in stock. Shortly after placing my order I received an e-mail requesting a copy of my credit card and ID (I live outside the UK) which I duly provided. Checking the order status later on there was the message "Awaiting CC Auth
Explanation: Your credit card is awaiting authorisation from your bank. Some international banks can take two days to provide a response. If you are concerned we have not received a response yet, please contact us."
I called and spoke with one of Expansys' customer representatives who said the same as above except that all memory stick duos had now been sold out and were on backorder. This is all within 24 hours.
I buy everything from clothes, to computers, gadgets and toys online. I buy from Amazon.com, Amazon.co.uk, Micronpc.com, landsend.com, LLBean.com, Outpost.com... The list goes on and on. Every time I make an online purchase I get instant confirmation and authorization and my order ships virtually immediately provided it's not back-ordered.
Why eXpansys can't do the same I do not know. A very archaic system and the customer service representatives are obviously under a lot of pressure.

yeah, I got the same from them the first time I bought from them. Its been perfect since then. I guess they are just ultra careful with new customers.

@masseur, Yes, but if other online merchants provide a hassle-free experience then I think that a site like eXpansys that deals with high-tech stuff should be no less. Anyway I cancelled my order.

They explained it to me that they got stung very badly. Its also why they didn;t have alot of equipment on their site until recently, like Sony Vaio's etc.

As much as I hate them too... I keep going back because they have the stuff!

That's strange... I placed m first order with them yesterday evening for a 64MB DUO and this morning I got an e-mail from them saying that my order have been shipped, and I live outside UK too..

They probably pick on people with the worst-sounding email address

Omar, how do you know it wasn't your bank that held up the authorisation process? I think you're jumping to conclusions.

@richardadc, easy, I placed another online order immediately after the eXpansys fiasco and it was authorized immediately, and online. No need to send faxes and make phone calls, long-distance, all of which I have to pay for and had to make with eXpansys.

I tried to purchase a sim free T39 a while back and they were useless - took ages and ages to do anything and then tried to blame the bank which I contacted - The bank told me they had not heard from them - I eventually cancelled and bough direct from Ericsson E Shop - shipped next day

Have heard the same now from loads of contacts. wont use them again - and they're expensive! get a better deal in the uk from dixons than expansys and thats saying something!!
