When trying to connect my pc to my p800 i keep getting an error message detailing that 'the remote device (being the p800) closed the connection' does anyone know how to resolve this?? Thanks in advance.

No luck I'm afraid. Still haven't been able to get my IBM notebook and the P800 to communicate. I checked with my SE dealer and they said to check with IBM who said my network don't support bluetooth! It took me a while to explain that BT is not network dependent. Someone posted a BT/T68i walkthrough a while back. Do a search and it might help. I've also heard 3com BT adapters/cards are less problematic.

With my IBM Laptop I get a Bluetooth connection as follows:
1. Quickly click away the error message about the remote device having closed the connection (use the enter key, this is the fastest way). Have the phone accept communication from the PC without asking first.

2. Experiment a bit to find the correct COM port to observe (in the "Link Properties" of the "Phone Connection Link" in the status bar. You can also find it via "My Bluetooth Places": Go to "View my Bluetooth Services", and then check the "Bluetooth Serial Port". On my system, this is COM5. Don't confuse it with the Phone's "Bluetooth Serial Port" you are trying to connect to: This one is COM4 on my system.

The explanation seems to be that the PC tries to establish a connection to the Phone. The Phone replies by dropping this connection, and then "call back" to the PC's Bluetooth Serial Port. But if the Error-Message is on the screen, the PC is not listening. If you click it away quickly enough, the PC accepts the incoming connection, and the communication starts.

I have exactly the same problem, but can't solve it.
There is a tread about this:

The funny thing is that it works with a Bluetooth Modem Connection, but with a Serial Port i can't. One last thing. When i try to connect a Serial Port service (i.e. COM3), and appears the window that say that you're connected to the COMX, it says you're connected to COM0, instead of COM3, and that happens with different COM numbers.

Yes, same on my system, but this doesn't matter! It seems that not the phone's "Bluetooth Serial Connection" is used (COM3 or COM0, whatever may be right), but the PC's "Bluetooth Serial Connection", which on my system is COM5. The phone actually "calls back" to the PC.

So whats the deal with this then?
Is it going to be fixed in a firmware update? This is major pain as i used bluetooth daily with my T68i without ever having an issue....seems to me they missed a load of profiles from the software.

Is there a definitive way to get this serial port connection stable without messing about quickly clicking away errors?

Thanks

Jamie

ps. if someone has a guide they could email me would be appreciated

What are your P800 software settings? Maybe we could find a start point looking in that. Mine are:
PDA: R1C02
Phone: R1B
Bluetooth: R2C
CDA: R1B02

I hope this will help.

The error that comes out is because, the bluetooth connection should have been initiated by the P800 but since there is no way to do it you do it in the PC side by clicking on the serial port service of the P800. There is no problem here.

To be able to have a successful connection, go to My bluetooth services (the services available for the server) and find out what COM port number the serial port service is using. Then right click on the mRouter in the system tray (the one with two opposite bended arrows) and click on properties, check the number of the COM port that matches the My bluetooth services/serial port.

do a connection again and everything should be fine.

Feedback please.

i found this on my-symbian.com
You'll probably find the the blue monkey is the same as most other rebadged bluetooth cards and are made by a swedish firm that anycom and various other vendors use.
In which case it not directly compatible with the P800 and you need to do a few regestry fixes to get it working.

This is on an XP machine.

Pair your phone then,
Create two com SPP ports called com18 and com19,
In the mRouter properties (The dual line squigle in you tray) tick com19,
Open regedit and find the key located at HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wireless Solutions Sweden\Bluetooth\SPPBridge\Ports and you should see two ports,
open one after the other and find the port that has the key name REG_SZ COM19
in this key change the client key from 1 to 0 and the serverchannel to a.
Close regedit and then go to the control panel.
Open the Phone monitor options and click on com ports
enable and reserve com19.
Close and reboot the machine.
When the machine has rebooted go back to mRouter properties and click on com18. It should connect and then fail. This is fine. Then automatically com19 should connect and you'll have connectivity.
When you connected you'll need to untick com18, or otherwise the next time you reboot your BlueTooth stack will crash.

Happy syncing!!
