Hi,

I read somewhere that every application deployed to the P800 must have a unique UID, to get one you have to contact Symbian. Is this correct? Isn't this a little awkward? I mean you have to contact the operating system company to tell them you are developing every time you write a program? Does symbian send the UIDs one by one, or can you request more at the same time? Also what is the email address for requesting UIDs?

I think the UID is the signature that shows up when the SIS installation gets launched...

It doesn't have to...
As you can choose to install those apps that doesn't have a signature too(at your own risk)

Check
http://www.symbian.com/developer/techlib/papers/tn%5Fuid/uidinfo.html

You'll find all the explanations, plus the instructions for requesting UIDs there.
