outgoing port = 25
email address = mailbox@btinternet.com

i too have a t68i and am also on o2 (UK).

my phone just never gets past the finding server message.

I have tried loads of things now - ip addresses and their resolved names, different configurators, DNS addresses. Problem is that everything i try is still just a guess.

It is also really annoying that the search filters out the word O2 which means I cant search to see if this has been discussed before.

I think you need a different Data Account for the Email purpose. Cos your provider might have a different APN for your to check public ip (POP) than browse their WAP site.

Just check it with your provider

Cheers,
Bear

I am able to view any wap site on GPRS, not just O2s home page. wouldn't this suggest that I should be able to get onto my btinterenet mail server?

Regards,

Phil.

Phil! Bear's comment was on APN in Data Account. You can access wap over gprs, but can you connect to internet Web pages from your pc or pda over phone gprs? If not, Create another gprs data account with right APN in the phone. Get information from o2 please. This message was posted from a WAP device

Right, I understand now. thanks!

i haven't tried accessing because I dont have a pda but I bet this is the case. I have got a friend who i think will get GPRS enabled on his phone so when he contacts O2 I'll ask him to get the new APN information.

Thanks again,

Phil.

Ok here is what I have found out.

O2 does have a separate APN for data e.t.c which isn't compatable with MMS. Currently they only appear to be supporting their WAP GPRS which also allows MMS.

Interesting point:
I found a quote which said that their "free" WAP GPRS is only free until March 31st 2003 which is long enough to support their promotional MMS deal (i think it was 3 months free or something) which implies that after this date they will start charging for thier WAP GPRS.

Anyone know any more than me on this subject?

yeah, you need to get the O2 data APN by phoning them up. If you do could you post it up here?
