In phone - edit - preferences - locks, there is a "Device Lock" and I darn dont remember having it set.
But when I want to do a Master Reset, it asks me for that same password.
How can I reset my P800 without knowing my device lock ?

Yes, Nokia use 1234, and its been a while since I had a motorola and I think they use 12345, but this is a P800 forum so there wasn't much point in me mentioning those others.
As for the order of the list... thats totally irrelevant as the default code depends completely on the Manufacturer of the phone (with a few exceptions) as mentioned above. Its not like on a Nokia you should try 0000, then 1234 etc...
Anyway, apart from some errors in some manuals (e.g. orange P800 manual) the best place to source the code for your phone, and alot of other answers to questions that get asked here daily, is the manual!

well what I meant by order, I meant like the chances of hvin 12345 is really least likely to occur
and yeah, Nokias use 1234 and 12345.. if u want to change system stuff, it's 12345.. but locks and stuff is 1234 or 0000..
usually I try em in that order
0000
1234
12345
it never fails..

Thank you guys !
It worked: the default lock code is 0000
I read the manual TWICE to be sure not to have missed a default lock code. I'm quite sure they simply did not mention it, !!$$§
The new lock code must be 4 digits at least to be accepted. The P800 simply states "wrong code" if you try less digits.
What a luck that I've found Esato! For this was the reason that I went looking for a solution.
Last question: isn't there a reset button at all, like there is on all pda's ?

no, the best you can do is hold the power button for 10 seconds or take the battery out!

That doesn't work!
If you re-insert your battery, the p800 is NOT reset.
Has anybody else some correct information ?

works for me!
Perhaps you want a hard reset instead of a soft reset?
Removing the battery and reinserting it on the P800 has exactly the same effect as it does pushing the reset button on my ipaq. This is a soft reset and is similar in concept to a reboot on a pc.
A hard reset returns the unit to the state it was in when you first got it. On my ipaq this is acheived by holding down the two outer application buttons while pressing the reset button. On the P800 this is acheived by performing a master reset.
If neither of these answer your question about reset then you may wish to explain exactly what result you are looking for?

I'm sorry for the misconception.
Removing the battery does a soft reset indeed.
Its the hard reset that i'm interested in. And your right: the master reset does the trick BUT only if you know your locking code.
So the question is: how does one do a hard reset WHITHOUT knowing the device locking code - as, in my case, i did not know it.
I'm sure that, in time, someone will need this answer.
