The PC sync is working fine, phone is connected to cradle ok. But the dial up, connection wizard can't find the phone. Have done all the usual. Any ideas on this one, it's really got me stuck.
Great forum by the way, loads of tips and fixes.

Go into Applications > Control Panel >Cable and then check on the "Modem" box. Don't forget the to check back onto PC when finished

Sorry late with reply. I've done that but still can't find the phone. Have tried manually to install modem but usb driver is not in the drivers list. However it is on the cd under modems but does not appear in the modem drivers list in the pc.. Have tried a re install and have deleted all the previous phone modems data. It's a real mystery...

Do you have problems with the connection when just using the phone?
In that case read on...

This was easily solved when I wrote the right DNS-number. This is done on the control panel. Hit the advanced button in your connection and find the DNS-fields. You get these numbers from your Internet Provider...

One more thing - Try to call your "dial up number" from a regular phone. Then you can se if the numbers is the right one (you hear a noice sounding like a fax machine).

Good luck!

Best regards, Patrik

go to network places/view network connections. under dialup, you will find a connection for your phone. if not, create a new connection. then follow the on-screen instructions.

Hello!

As you can see I have the exact same problem as described above in this thread, just wanted to add some more info. Both I and a friend of mine that works as a Computer Guru for a very large telecom company and is one of the very best computer technichians I know (and I do know a few ) have tried for hours but so far we havn't found any sollution.

Now I have tried (almost) all permutations of suported OS:es, connection medias, software settings, installation orders, computers aso. Still havn't got the P800 to work as a modem for any PC. Darn!

I could type a hole essay here (after all I have worked about 40 hours with it) but I will try to keep it short.

This is what I do (and as said earlier I have tried almost every other possibility to)

1) Clean install of WinXP
2) Install the PC Suite 1.1.1
3) Shut down
4) Put the P800 in the cradle
5) Set the Application-ControlPanel-Connections-Cable in "Computer Mode" in the P800
6) Starts the computer
7) The USB-cradle is found, the phone is found
Now I can browse and transfer files, syncronize etc ALL GOOD SO FAR
9) Shut down the computer (or not, doesn't make any difference for me)
10) Set the Application-ControlPanel-Connections-Cable in "MODEM MODE" in the P800
11) Start up the computer
12) The computer will no longer find the phone for file transfer (as should be)
13) Deactivate the "mRouter" from USB (otherwise the wizard will say that no phones was found)
14) Starts the "Dial-Up-Connection Wizard"
15) It doesn't find any modems, asks me to install one (IR, Cable or Bluethoot). I choose Cable (or serial as it also says on some places)
16) Now the computer will install this modem on COM1. Arghh, no phone connected to COM1. I go in to "Phone monitor" in Windows controlepanel and deactivates all ports. After a little while I can install the Cable-modem on COM3 (which the USB-cradle simulates on my computer) after this I reactivate all ports in "Phone Monitor".
17) I can now continue with the wizard without any problems.
18) After Wizard is complete and I try to use the new "Dial-up-connection" I get an error like "Hardware faliure". Now it COULD be that my phone is broken BUT in my experience with stuff using the COM-ports it's probably not. I can put some money that it is a software error someware.

(By the way, the exact same thing happens when I try to use IR so thats not the error either)

My GPRS connection with Vodaphone works fine. I can use all internet features IN the phone without any problem.

The funny thing is that I CAN communicate with the phone in Modem mode. I can use "HyperTerminal" and the AT command for example.

I'm stuck, I'm pissed! Anyone have any tip?
Has anyone of you guys installed this without any problem at all?? Without activate and deactivate ports and manually install drivers for things as modems and so on??? Just install the software and put the phone in the cradle and in "modem mode" and then everything worked??
