> Instant Messaging with GSM and T68

I want to use a T68 in conjunction with my laptop to wirelessly instant message. Is this possible? I would make a 9600 baud connection to my ISP via GSM and a bluetooth connection from the phone to my laptop. Is 9600 baud enough bandwidth to instant message?

Why on earth do you even need to dial in to your provider? So long as you have PC software that can interface with a T68i, you should have no problem.

Wouldn't gprs be cheaper for instant messaging?

With T-mobile, GPRS costs 10 dollars for 2 MB and 10 dollars for every megabyte after that. I am using a GSM connection because I receive free dialup with my DSL service. Since there are no long distance charges with my service plan, I can use my T68 in conjunction with laptop to check my email anywhere in the US. Its slow, but there are no transfer limits.

But you'd still pay T-mobile's rates for the dialup.

I am using my own ISP, not T-mobiles.. I think that is what you mean by paying "T-mobiles rate for the dialup". I am only being charged minutes for the connection to my ISP. If I do this during the evening or on weekends, I am billed no minutes at all.
