I don't know if anyone else has had this problem, but I can't be the only one.

Once upon a time I owned a Sony CMD-Z5 and it had the typical feature of pulling open the flip to answer a call and closing the flip to end a call... and despite having owned a t68 in the interim, I find that I am unable to help trying to use the flip to answer and hang up on calls. Which is embarrassing, especially when the phone rings, you pull it out proudly displaying your new toy, give a sly wink to whomever you're with as you gracefully pull the flip open and bring it up to speak.... only to find that the phone continues ringing.

Am I missing something, is this option present in the firmware? If not, it seems like it'd be a dead simple add-on for any of you Symbian/UIQ wizards to sort out....

Cheers,

-Luke

agreed.

However from a developers point of view, it would be crap to have this when the virtual flip is enabled, as trying to press that little arrow with a finger in a hurry isnt the easiest thing to do.

I haven't really gone for the virtual flip yet as I'm concerned about the lack of auto-keylock, and I don't really fancy carrying the thing around in a case the whole time.

Presumably adding an "open flip to answer" would involve automatically disabling that for the Virtual Flip mode.

It's tough to have an active flip as the filp is detachable and it is not really connected to the phone electronically other then physically...

the flip has a sensor, so it can definitely be used in that way.

The problem is that the microphone is behind the flip, so in fact - by openning the flip to answer, you're blocking your voice from the microphone...

Well the phone is at least able to detect whether the flip is open or closed if it's attached, right? Hence the screen currently changes between "flip open mode" and "flip closed mode" based on opening or closing the flip.

So the logic would go:

To answer:
- IF the flip is attached AND virtual flip is not enabled AND the flip is currently closed AND if the phone is ringing, THEN pulling the flip open would answer

To hang up:
- IF the flip is attached AND virtual flip is not enabled AND the flip is currently open AND a call is currently underway, THEN closing the flip will end a call

This seriously is not an issue.
IT IS NOT HARD to answer the call by pressing the ok button.
Plus. Opening the keypad during a call turns on speaker phone.
It couldn't do this if opening or closing meant hanging up or answering the call.

Coramoor,

It only turns on speakerphone mode if you'd like it to. It has separate options for flip open and flip closed. If you change the volume when in a conversation and the flip is on, you get the menu that allows you to turn on/off a few options + change the volume.

It remembers these options separately from flip closed, so you can, in fact, have the unit mute when the flip is closed, or lower the volume, or turn on speakerphone, etc.
