CDMA (Code Division Multiple Access) and WCDMA (Wideband Code-Division Multiple Access) are two technologies used in the mobile world for radio access... UMTS uses WCDMA....

@ Cytech

About the Z1010 and Europe's WCDMA. Japan uses WCDMA 2100, is Eurpope going to use the same or use 900 and 1800. I was wondering because in order to work in Japan, The z1010 would have to be dual mode (GSM/WCDMA) and triband (900/1800/2100),. what do you think?

900 and 1800 is for GSM only... UMTS in Europe will use frequencies around 2000MHz (here in Sweden 1900-2100MHz is reserved for UMTS).. so it's WCDMA 2100 here as well..

that's what I thought, its interesting how things are marketed in words that people understand, even if not technically correct. I have heard that its going to take ahile for MMS to really catch on until the menu commands are better understood by people as a whole
