Hi!
Sorry to bug you all with all those newbie questions... But I saw somewhere on the internet, that the P800 can't send nor receive MMS from Nokia phones... Is this true??

I donīt think so. Even the T68i could, so why not the P800? Also, it dosent say anything about it in the userīs manual.

I saw this on another forum as well (thought I can't recall which one!). No idea whether it's true but someone said that it depended on the firmware version as to whether MMS would work from a P800 to other phones/networks. I posted a message elsewhere here on this forum where I had problems sending MMS to O2 network from Orange.

Thnx! I know about the networks problems, here in denmark, almost every single provider has its own homepage saying "You can't send to ppl if they aren't our customers" and so on. I do, however, believe this will be fixed. I hope the fone can send MMS to Nokia, coz most ppl have nokia (unfortunately)...
I will maybe e-mail SE. I'll post the answer here if I do.
Well, thanks for the replies, expect more silly questions from me in the future

as far as i was aware, u cant send MMS messages across different networks. they havnt established a standard yet. so it may be a p800 cant send to nokia, but only cos they on diff networks.

this may b old news news now but thats how it was a few weeks back.

Universal Exports.
When you say "even the t68i" please keep in mind that as far as mms go the t68i was far more advanced than any nokia phone including 7650.

It supported frames, could send sounds...
It's drawback of course was lack of colors and speaker.
And YES.. the p800 can send mms messages to nokia phones and vice versa.
However since nokias don't support .smil files it won't display the message with frames and such.
And if a nokia phone sends to you it appears sort of like an email message. The text, image and sound(no... wait. The NOKIA CAN'T send sound ) appear as sepparate files. Sort of like email attachments.
All this because nokias are gay....

Hmm.

I sent a friend a pic that I took on my P800, a JPEG. He couldn't view it. But I sent hm a GIF and he could view that.

Is this a limitation of the phone or the network, do you think?

I have sent and received MMS messages from my P800 (on Orange) to a Nokia 6100 (on O2) and everything has been fine. The message from the 6100 don't come as a auto-running animation, they come as a set of attachments which I have to view individually. That could just be some setting on the 6100 though, I haven't had chance to give it a go myself. The images have been both gif and jpg (up to 640 x 480 in size)

Hope this helps. Probably just confuses the matter

My friend's using the SHARP GX10 and is on Vodafone. I'm on Vodafone too. So it must be the phone.
