Just ordered a p800 on VodaUK (£139.99 +£28pm x4). Could any of you lucky people who already own one please tell me how well the phone manages to run emulation software (frodoC64, gameboy, mame etc).
Does it manage a good frame rate or is it slow and jerky?
Cheers.

I can't speak for the rest, but Emame, and EDOOM run perfectly!
CPU speed is 155MHz.
Frame rate is smooth, no jerks, not choppy at all.

Fast reply too

.You always know when a product is a 'must have' when it gets a thriving enthusiastic community behind it like the p800 already has.

The ARM chip itself can handle 200... but I think SE chose to lock it at 156MHz to save battery life... It's short enough as it is when you run an app that makes it hit 156... I think 200 would give the P800, iPaq battery life... 4 hours.
I think this was a smarter move by

... I know it would be nice to overclock the thing to 200... but can you imagine... there are so many people whining and whining and whining about short battery life.."it only lasts a day"... blah blah blah... if they overclocked the chip to 200... can you imagine the baby cries these people would make? ... it sucks that

has to protect itself... but that's the nature of consumer marketing.

There should be a third party tool that unlocks the full speed of the P800

i think running the ARM from 155/156 mhz to 200 mhz would make that much difference in battery life. maybe a bit but not down to 4hrs.
re: framerate
dropped frames is quite high.

Well why wouldn't they keep the option for you to choose from
Very slow 66 Mhz
Slow 100
Normal 150
High speed 200
