I downloaded some emails, so now I have the new email icon.

The problem is, I have no way to remove the icon unless I either actually read all the emails or delete them... I can't mark them as read or delete them JUST off the phone...

If I delete them off the phone, it will delete them off the server. If I delete the emails when I'm offline, when I go online again, it deletes them then...

I would love to have the same type of flexibility I had with my R380s. Basically, it had inbox and it also had remote inbox (basically showing what the server was doing). I could delete things off the remote mailbox (i.e., from the server), move them to the local inbox, etc. Here, there is no remote mailbox, so any actions I take are actually done on the server.

Any ideas on how to mark emails as read, so the new email icon goes away?

Also, if I have 5 new emails, it usually plays the new email alert sound a few times (more than once, usually the first few instances are stopped in the middle). That sounds like a bug.

Havn't got any emails on my P800 at the moment to double check but there is a box at the side of each email you select to delete them. If you just leave them ticked, they are still there but you don't get the new email icon at the bottom of the phone.

I'm sure all my email is left on the mail server if I delete one off the P800. I will have to check.

I'd like to know how to do this too. I'm also using IMAP though I had the same problem using POP with just dl'ing headers (no point in wasting bandwidth on spam).

psikey,

Thanks for the suggestion, but it doesn't work.

Again, if I delete an email, then it deletes it off the server too the next time I do a "Get&Send".

If I leave it checked on, the new email icon does NOT go away and when I go back into the account, the email is checked off.

There's definitely a function missing there called "Mark as read"...

Yes, I just tried what you said and you were right about everything. Didn't realise that if I deleted it off the phone then checked again for mail it deleted it of the server

Always want to get my mail at the PC for storage purposes so I will have to make sure I don't delete emails until after the PC has checked.

Can't solve the problem but great thanks for the warning.

Email programme needs some improvements doesn't it. I don't like the fact I can't create an archive folder to store old emails on the phone.

Another thing about email client: there shoud be an option to download multiple emails, for examle you have 5 emails and you want to read only 3, you just tick the boxes and DL them in one step...

Does anyone else find reading messages that arrived in HTML or Rich format difficult to read? It would be great if the mail could be converted to plain text reliably first.

What would be good is an option to KEEP MESSAGES ON THE SERVER, like outlook express does

Has anyone come up with a way to mark all emails read?
I use IMAP and have hundreds of emails that I've read on my PC and want to keep but the p800 thinks I havent read them, its really annoying!
