Searched and found no answers for this (searched for 2 other things I was going to ask about though and found great answers!).

I'm trying to get Putty running on my P800 but when I connect to the server I just get a cursor (not flashing) with no login prompt. It works fine from Putty on my PC.

Any ideas?

I have no idea. When I ran it on my P800 it all seemed to work. Are all the setting correct? How is it now? Any improvement? What exactly did u do?

I am right in assuming that a regular SSH connection would be ok? I've tried connecting to my Smoothwall on my network whilst on the USB docking station, and also to my remote server over GPRS.

Yeah a regular SSH connection is what I am connecting with i have yet to try connecting while still in the docking station, but with GPRS is works fine.

Try putting 129.11.146.8 in (this is one of the remote servers that I use) and see if the login screen appears. If it does then it must be ur remote server that is the problem (can't think why if it works on ur home computer) if it does not work try uninstalling Putty and reinstalling it again. What version do u have of Putty? Keep me posted

Ahhhh! Your server worked no problem! (from the cradle)

It appears that I can't connect because I was connecting to my personal IP on the box, which all my other things like mail etc run on, and last night it became blindingly obvious I couldn't connect to anything. Connecting to the box's first IP works tho...

I shall be strangling my host later
