Hi,
Just some quick advice needed :
I have the following accounts listed as connections on my P800 :

Orange MMS GPRS
Orange GPRS GPRS
Orange GPRS Wap -GPRS
Orange WAP

I'm assuming that I can only connect using Opera using the GPRS GPRS account - is there any use for the other acounts i.e save a bit of money ?

Are there any hacks that can allow me to, say use wap to access real websites via Opera ?

What's the difference between wap-gprs and wap ?

Also, I thought gprs was an "always on" connection but it takes about as long as a dial-up connection to connect - is this right ?

C

Orange MMS GPRS - this is used for sending MMS messages
Orange GPRS GPRS - Used to access internet pages and WAP pages over GPRS
Orange GPRS Wap - used to access only WAP pages over GPRS
Orange WAP - used to access WAP pages over dial-up

If you want to access HTML websites you need the GPRS GPRS account and of course the MMS GPRS account for sending MMS messages.

No hacks, the restrictions are in place at the Orange servers.

It does take a while to connect the first time, but the advantage with GPRS is that you don;t need to disconnect, as you only pay for data sent, not the amount of time.

Not quite true -depending on your network, you might well be able to use CSD (ie a 'dialup' wap account) for HTML with opera - for example, i'm posting this from the WEB esato site, and do all my browsing using opera via my o2 csd wap connection, works great! Not sure about Orange's CSD WAP cornection though.

You can use dial up connection to access WAP pages, but I would recommend getting the Orange access pack. Benefit:- 1st three months free, only £4:00/month thereafter unlimited access (10Mb limit) This message was posted from a P800

Sorry to reply to post a question but I don't know how to post a new forum.

I have a P800 and I use Orange in Switzerland. Can anyone help in telling me how I can get the configuration for internet connection and how it works.

Orange sent me a GPRS and MMS setup SMS but apparently it doesn't work ... and of course they don't know how to setup the phone for internet connection ...

Thanks.
