i want to transfer files to my p800 as quickly as poss. the cradle is slow and i'm told that a memory card reader cud transfer the files much quicker. what about bluetooth? how fast is it compared to a mem card reader? seeing as you can pick up both for about £40 i was just wondering which u guyz think is the best?

Can't speak for the mem card reader but the BT connection works great, if a little temperamental. Careful what BT adaptor you buy though. I think the TDK USB version is the best if not the cheapest.
Much faster than the cradle, in answer to your question....

i'm going all bluetooth - ordered a couple of dongles from scan.co.uk (class 1 so they go 100m for bluetooth networking) - hope they work though cause the one built into my thinkpad doesn't - it pics up the phone and i can pair them but i cant transfer files from the phone to the pc (not tried the other way yet)

my friend has bought a BT long range 100m but he cant get it to work with hes p800 well he can make it work within 10M but when we get more the p800 loses all sight of hes laptop! which makes life difficult! since he bought it for hes office so he can roam around the office and still be connected to hes comp and be able tobe mobile (well mostly free Internet within 100M radias lol)
i was just wondering does both bluetooth things have to be able to go 100m? or just one of them?

think about it, it's fairly obvious....
If the p800 has a 10m range, it can "speak" for 10m only. So although it may hear the 100m PC signal, it's return conversation has not got a strong enough signal for the PC to hear if it's over 10m away.
I guess you're SOL, but it would be nice if you could do it for 100m.
