Has anybody else used the SE Bluetooth CK with more than one phone paired to it. It works perfectly with my P800. But when I pair my 6310i, the CK doesn't connect properly to my P800 (the default device) when I start the ignition.

Any ideas? SW glitch?

THERE YOU ARE!!! hahahaha! Finally!

Anyway... no it's not a glitch has removed any and ALL convenient multiple handset options in their current BT chipset... the new chipsets are more reliable, and have better audio... but there is no more dynamic menu that allows on-the-fly switching of handsets.

The HCB-30 works exactly the same way as the HBH-30...

I've paired my HBH-30 with 3 devices, my P800, R310s and my PC.

The ONLY device that has FULL use of the BT headset/carkit will be the LAST device you paired it with. The rest will only be secondary...if you want to move any device to the top, you have to 're-pair' it...it's not really pairing, but you have to go through the same steps...so its the same $#!+

It's really dumb if you ask me. My old HBH-10 could easily switch between 8 devices, any phone it was paired with could select the 'active' phone. I guess this 'new' setup cuts costs for SW developers and leaves little room for connection glitches/reliability.

How the new BT chips work is this:
LAST device paired with has full access.
secondary devices cannot initiate calls, only receive..IF primary paired device is not found. So, if you have 2 phones in your car, shut off the BT of the phone you don't want to answer the call. And 're-pair' the HCB-30 with your P800 or your primary phone to restore full functionality. Your Nokia will still be paired, but will be a secondary device.

If this doesn't work, then I'm more likely to suspect that Nokia BT chips don't allow secondary pairing.

Just remember, secondary devices CAN NOT make calls through the kit, only receive.

So you don't forget... when you pair the phones... make the PHONE initiate the pairing, and pair them all in reverse order (least priority first.)

geez,

before encountering you, i thought i knew some shit!

great explanation, all fits now. Only thing I don't get is what difference pairing in reverse order would make if I have to re-pair any device any time i want the full functionality (ie making and receiving from CK) of the BT?

goddamn it why fix what ain't broke!

Oh, no need to pair in reverse order if you plan to 're-pair' devices.

Well, look at it this way... is actually the only one that used to allow multiple pairing. AFAIK, not even Bluespoon does.

But the old Ericsson setup was much better... BUT it did have it's flaws as well... the HBH-10 I used to have had a full menu of 8 devices it was paired with... but if 2 or more were within range... whichever device pressed "yes" first, the headset would answer..even if that device wasn't the "active" one.

I guess the multiple device setup had too many variables that couldn't be predicted... too many users would demand that the device could read their minds in terms of "If I press YES on my phone today, I want the headset to answer it. But when I press YES on my phone tomorrow, I want to be able to answer it from my phone" kind of thing. So to simplify everything, they did what everyone else was doing...ONE active device only.
