Has anyone been able to find PC to archive SMS onto the PC from the P800? I need it very badly - the number of SMS on my phone waiting to be archived is approaching 600 messages :|

I agree, this is something that shouldn't have been left out. Does anyone know the at commands to get the messages? Or can it be done with syncml? Or does anyone know where and how the messages are stored on the phone? I had a quick look with the file manager, but couldn't find them. This message was posted from a R520

I couldn't find them with File Manager either.
The filing system architecture is different from other phones and this is why the phone is not recognized by programs like FMA and such.

Found where they're stored. For SMS, the full message seems to be in c:\system\Mail\Index, and then also in a file in one of the subdirectories of c:\system\Mail

At the moment, the only bit I can decipher is the message and the phone number. I'm guessing that the time/date is stored in microseconds since 0 AD, since that seems to be the time format preferred by Symbian. Unforunately, I can't verify this without a means of generating timestamps of this type. (Most PC software either uses UNIX timestamps [secs since 1/1/1970] or Excel timestamps [days since 1/1/1900].)

I also don't have the time at present to do any further work. But it should be possible for someone with more skill and time to work out the rest of the file's contents. Or we could just wait for SE to add it to the PC Suite.

Hi all:

Do check version 2.0 of SMS Folder Manager by Soft & Wireless, I'm sure you will LOVE this application.

The application is available at www.my-symbian.com and www.handango.com

Any feedback would be very much appreciated.
Thx
