As so many people seems to ask just this question I decided to post a "good" answer here. (Maybe some moderator can make this sticky...)

(Sony)Ericsson has made a program called MPM (Mobile Phone Monitor) which you need when using a cable to transfer images, ringtones and such to your phone.

How to find this software:

Go to http://www.sonyericsson.com/fun/
Click Connectivity Software
Find Mobile Phone Monitor and select R520m in the list.
A new windows opens up, just click download there

There are more ways to connect to mpm to than with a cable and there are more phones than the one you mentioned. This message was posted from a T68i
