IS there any software for routeplanning for UK streets?
Say I wanna go from b44 to a location such as Alton Tower, is there software that will track me and show me which route (left here etc) and a map to follow my progress?

erm for it to track u it would need to have GPS, which it doesnt, although there may be a GPS adaptor in the future. If u just want the route to follow on ur fone, just use the internet and go to rp.rac.co.uk/routeplanner which is pretty damn good, also for a street map go to
www.streetmap.co.uk

It wouldn't necessarily need GPS. Look at:

The same technology (assuming your network supports it) could be linked into some decent mapping software to give you a route plan. Sure, GSM cells are larger than the 10m resolution of GPS, but it should be good enough to get a rough fix on where you are, and you can then use local landmarks/street names to pinpoint it more precisely. Vodafone have/had a facility on their vizzavi service which gave you a black and white and rather useless map of your location over wap which suggests it's at least feasible.
