After getting too used to Broadband I don't think I could put up with waiting for a 4MB song to download at this speed. Don't forget the Memory stick is only a measely 16mb and it's not that cheap to get bigger ones either.

very true. but gprs isnt that bad a connection. ant if we downloaded files in atrac3 or wma format then they would be 1meg each, roughly.

It could probably be done, but it would not be very useful. Remember that the P800 (and most other phones) only has one timeslot uplink. Besides would you like to pay for other people downloading stuff from you.

With 3G and flatrate data subscription it could be intresting though.

also I don't think the P800 can play wma files. Or am I wrong? (I hope so, wma files can crunch the sizes down quite a lot)

Kewl idea!

But as long as GPRS costs 0,25 Eur per 10Kbs here in Portugal, I'll surelly won't be downloading a "couple" of Megs MP3 song!

a good idea, u could have any music on hand anywhere but the money spent on gprs would cost alot,

do any of you know where u can buy something like a internet provider that u pay say £25 a month and u can use your gprs connection when ever u want for that locket price a month?

i pay £25 from telewest broadband a month for internet at 543kb/s which does me fine downloading music or even films but i still end up paying more becaues of GPRS on my phone im allways useing it on the go and it would be cheaper to be able to have server like that...

i hope you understand what i mean
