Hello,

I have IRda enabled in BIOS and Windows XP. But according to instructions I'm supposed to activate it in Control Panel/Infrared, but I don't have option there. How exactly do I activate IRDA communication in XP? What is proper cause of action? What is turned on first - cell or computer? What else I might need to do to make it work?

Greetz!

I've got XP Pro and whenever I want to make an IR connection, I turn the IR on of my t68/P800 and a file tranfer manager pops up...

I've a MA-600 IR port and had a lot of problems installing the darn device

But now it's all fine

So you do not launch any special program under XP to make it work?
What steps do you follow to connect to mobile phone?
Which one you turn first?

Thanks,
Greg

for those who is using windows XP, install SP1 service pack. If you are using pirated copy, you would have to do a little thing to get it work though. Here is how it goes if you are using a pirated copy; you are on your way if you are using the Retail version.

############################

How to change product key in XP with no re-install.:

1. Run regedit and go to:
HKey_Local_MachineSoftwareMicrosoftWindowsNTCurrent VersionWPAEvents,in the right panel double click on "oobetimer" and change at least one digit of this value. This will deactivate windows. Exit regedit.

2. Choose run from start menu and type in this command:
'%systemroot%system32oobemsoobe.exe /a'
or
'oobe/msoobe /a'

to get the activation screen. Then You want to Activate by phone so Click on Activate by phone. Click Next.

3. In the new screen choose the option to change product key, and type in the new product key (Corporate one only). You cannot use the FCKGW key. Only a new one (one the bottom of this instructions) that you have generated then....no need to click next

Do not click Update.

If you do its ok.. but you didnt need to ... you now should reboot and be done so just close that window, and reboot your system

4. Once rebooted check to make sure that your activated..

5. Enter the command in step 2 again for the second time to verify your activation , you should see "Windows Is Already Activated".

ENJOY

I have no problem with T68i with my Sigmatel USB-Irda which works very well but I can't use it with my Nokia 8310, 6610. The Nokia PC Suite 5 connection manager recognise only 8310 not 6610 but the IR icon doesn't appear and PC suite software shows NOT CONNECTED anyone can help? I'm using Windows XP Home Edition. It's the XP that is giving problems I think.....
It's no problem with my Laptop which is using Windows 98 for all phones but using my desktop with this USB-Irda with Windows XP is a real pain.

One thing I've been noticing is the instability of the IrDa connection between my P800 and XP Pro...

XP finds P800 when IR is activated, but 10 seconds after, it disconnects and re-connects again

Has anyone experienced this with P800 and XP Pro?
