theres a blank entry in my contacts and i cannot delete it at all! arghh, i try resyncing and still wont go away... im using winxp and the windows address book, and after syncing it shows up as an unknown entry in my windows address book, so i try deleting it there and then resync and the blank entry is still there on my phone, any ideas? please help!
i also tried adding in all the blank fields then the option of deleting it shows up, but when i tried it says not supported... arghh!

@digitalic,
I've personally encounter this problem with my P800 when I first bought it as well. There are 2ways you can work it out.
1. Try sync to your PC and view it under Outlook. Select the blank records and try to delete it. Later sync it back to your P800. (I've personally tried this, and it doesn't work but works with some users).
2. The blank contact created due to the software bugs. I believe you've tried to group your contacts. If you group all your contacts, it will create a blank in the unfile. Not sure why but guess it need to have some data in the unfile folder. Another possibility is that you've group a contact and later decided not to group it and changed it back to unfile which also will create a blank record.
(These are what I've experienced and may not applies to all P800 users or could be due to something else.)
What I did is get back my original files and re-group it carefully and make sure I leave some contact in the unfile folder.

yes i do have my contact groups, i made an extra group called 'Work' As well... and i believed all my contacts were group accordingly and no entry was under 'unfiled' when i was done... hrmm, sigh, i am using windows address book, and when i try to sync from phone to pc, it places an entry in the windows address book as 'unknown' so i deleted it, and then reverse the sync order to pc to p800 and the blank entry is still there, this is really annoying me, is there a way you can use pc file manager and delete your contacts file and start over? i tried restoring and backup too, and still doesnt work, that damn blank entry is still there... damn... you say i need to use outlook? which version of outlook are you using? and how do you set up pc suite 800 to sync with outlook instead of windows address book?

@digitalic,
As I mentioned this is a bug in the Phonebook where it doesn't allows us to fully group all the Contacts. I suggest that you leave some contact of yours in the Unfile. I've tried several ways to delete this blank records and still not working. Doesn't matter whether you've used the Outlook or Window Address Book, this contact will remains. All I do is clear all my contacts and re-enter as well as re-group it. I believe you've transfer your contact fromT68i to P800. Use back the file from T68i which stated .vcf
P800 also doesn't have the "Delete All Contacts" as built in T68i. Therefore, I really tried the hard way which is Master Reset. You can select not to erase you application. From there, you'll have a clean Phonebook and regroup it. Just make sure you leave some contact in the unfile folder.
Sorry, if this seems to be troublesome but when I post my problem here few months ago, none could help but just myself reseting the phone. Once everything is stable, make sure do a backup so that the next time you've screwed up again, just restore from your previous backup.

yes i just installed outlook xp, and did what you say, that damn blank entry is still there... sigh, i tried almost everything, i really don't want to do a master reset or format internal drive, cause i heard you lose your language packs, i have the US and UK english packs on my phone, and ppl tell me if i do either, i will lose my US english language pack, so thats why i dont wanna master reset, im afraid too, i just got my phone on friday, the US release from SE... and no i didnt transfer my contacts from my t68i, i got them from my Windows Address Book, after i grouped em and performed a backup i noticed this new blank entry in my contacts, sigh... lets see if someone has any other suggestions, maybe running the PC File manager and manually going into the phone's internal disk and deleting the contact? Im afraid of this also, cuz i dont know which file to look for and don't know how safe this is...

@digitalic,
Didn't the CDs come with the box contained the US language pack?
Maybe you should try to surf your CDs or in your C:\Program Files\SonyEricsson\Mobile\Language.

The blank entry is there so that when you go to enter a new entry there is a template to enable you to do so. It seems to appear once you syne with outlook, and cannot be deleted (software bug) but if you fill it with info when you come to enter new info from a call you have made or received the screen that is brought up contains the info you put in the blank entry! so leave it its not really a big problem just wait for a software update!
